Observing One Year Since Louise's Passing

Observing One Year Since Louise's Passing
By Denis Sweeney, and featuring ideas and love from the whole Sweeney Family
April 27, 2011

As May 1st approaches, our extended family has been talking about ways to honor/commemorate/remember Louise. There are so many great ideas and we wanted to share them with you. By doing some planning ahead of time, I suspect that we can find ways to take control of the day and honor Louise and avoid doldrums as much as possible.

Ideas for ways to spend the day on May 1 (inspired by Louise Hurley Sweeney)

  • clearing leaves & weeding gardens after winter
  • picnic and/or wading at Kocher Park or similar park/beach
  • hors d'oevres with cocktails or wine at 5:00 o'clock indoors or out
  • bringing lawn furniture out and using it
  • playing music or listening to family (or any) musicians
  • write a letter to the editor
  • write to your congressman/local politician. make yourself heard
  • plant a tree. plant flowers
  • phone your family/friend(s)
  • watch a Gene Kelly movie, or find a great old dance clip online
  • knit, quilt, sew
  • go for a swim (unlikely, but it could happen)
  • take some photographs. Go slow and take your time and capture something beautiful
  • sit beside a warm fire
  • read a great book
  • enjoy some fireworks
  • go for a nice walk

Denis has been compiling photos for a book of images of Louise and you are invited to participate.
You can see it in progress here:

All photos are welcome. If you would like to send photos for likely inclusion, send them to this address and they will be added to the photo queue on the book site: denis408@mykeepsy.com

Hope this post finds you all in a good place.
Love,

Denis, and the Sweeney Family
